Obituary for Harold Richard Norman

Harold Richard Norman age 87 of Salem, VA formerly of Vaughan, WV passed away peacefully on January 24, 2019 after a brief illness. Harold was born on December 7, 1931 at Vaughan and was the son of the late Carl and Olga Norman. He was also preceded in death by his wife of over 30 years Jo Ann; daughter Lynn Ann Wills and siblings James "Flip", Carl Lee "Dink", Bill, Thelma, Marguerite "Marg", Gene, Frank, Ronald "Buddy" and JD Norman.
Harold joined the United States Navy in 1951 and fought in the Korean War aboard the USS Currituck. After serving his county, Harold married his beloved wife Jo Ann Petry Norman on May 29,1957. Harold worked as an electrician with the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers in Columbus, OH before moving back to Vaughan and working as a coal miner. He had a lifelong passion for motorcycles and vintage cars.
Harold is survived by his daughter Nancy Pulliam and husband Jim of Salem, VA; son Harold Richard Norman II of Charlotte, NC; granddaughters Nicole Burroughs and husband Jason, Chloe Norman and Jordan Cogar; great-granddaughters Shelby Burroughs and Cori Terrell; brothers Delano of Logan, OH and Fred and his wife Karen of Columbus, OH and a hose of nieces and nephews.
Service will be at 2:00 PM on Tuesday at O'Dell Funeral Home, Montgomery with Rev. Mike Lanham officiating. Burial will follow in Vaughan Cemetery on Twenty Mile Creek Road. Friends may call one hour prior to service at the funeral home. Expressions can be sent at www.odellfuneralhome.com
