Obituary for Deacon Lewis Randy Taylor

Deacon Lewis Taylor Sr. 63 of Charleston, WV accepted his wings and crown from God on Sunday, September 29 after a short illness. He was surrounded by family at the time of his passing. Lewis was born in Montgomery, WV on June 16, 1956 to parents the late Edgar (Tippy) and Lillie Pearl Taylor.

Deacon Lewis had nine siblings; eight brothers Robert, Larry, Edgar, Gerald, Timothy, Russell, Eric, Ricky and one sister Lillie Ann. He had also been blessed with three sons Lewis, Tarone and Aaron, three grandchildren Trevon, Tasha and Jasmine, and five great-grandchildren Colson, Kahilyah, Avah, Kylani, and Amari.

Lewis graduated from graduated from Saint Albans High School in 1974. Lewis played football and ran track at Saint Albans High School. Lewis had a work history in general maintenance and construction. In 1984 Lewis moved his family to Atlanta, GA where he drove tractor trailer.

Deacon Lewis Taylor was a member of Levi First Missionary Baptist Church of Rand, WV under the ministry of Reverend Jackson after leaving Metropolitan of Charleston, WV where he was an ordained deacon. Deacon Lewis was also a member of the Levi and Vandalia Male Chorus.

Deacon Lewis was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. Lewis loved being in the presence of family and friends. Brother Lewis loved to praise the Lord and do the work of the God. Lewis would minister to the people about his testimony. In 2017 Deacon Lewis published a book entitled “I Am a Living Testimony….I Should Have Been Dead and Gone”. His favorite song was I Am a Living Testimony. Lewis loved to shop at Esteps and dress up for church. Anytime you seen Deacon Lewis he was clean from head to toe.

Lewis was proceeded in death by his parents Edgar Jr. and Lillie Pearl, his grandparents, Charles L. Jones and grandmother Charlotte M. Jones and two twin aunts: Samantha Allen and Selena Terry, great aunt Glady Gibson and brothers: Robert Taylor, Gerald Taylor Sr. (Beverly), Edgar Taylor III (Priscilla), Eric Taylor (Susan), and Larry Taylor (Barbara) & son Tarone Taylor, niece Khadidra (nickname Peaches) Taylor and great-nephew Donovan Taylor.

Lewis leaves to mourn his wife Debbie Taylor of Charleston, WV, sons Lewis Taylor Jr. (Jenny) and Aaron Taylor of Charleston, WV; brothers: Timothy Lee Taylor Sr. (Valerie) of Dunbar, WV; Russell Taylor (Debbie) of Rand, WV; Ricky Taylor of Institute, WV and sister Lillie Ann Taylor of Kimberly, WV, three grandchildren, and five great-children and a host of nieces and nephews. He also leaves mourns a few special brothers in Christ Reverend William Isaac Kenney, David Bohanna, Reverend Clifford Sherrod, Rev. James Mosley and Bishop. Thomas Murray Jr.
